OMFG: Microsoft Studios Acquires Twisted Pixel Games aka Lisa’s Favorie Game Studio

HOLY MOTHERF*CKIN SH*TBALL ASSCRACKERS.
This is the best news all week. All YEAR. My favorite game studio of all time, TWISTED PIXEL STUDIOS, has been lasso'd by Microsoft Games.
“Twisted Pixel has an incredible track record of delivering innovative, critically acclaimed, and most importantly, fun, games,” said Phil Spencer, corporate vice president, Microsoft Studios. “Microsoft Studios is home to cutting-edge entertainment experiences, and the incredible creativity of the Twisted Pixel team will help drive further innovation around Kinect and Xbox LIVE.”
OMFFFFFFGGGGGGG. Love you, Twisted Pixel.

Treat them well Microsoft, they’re precious.

Between the lines (although it’s just one, I know) I’m reading what I am thinking of this. If I’m allowed to spell it out:
DON’T FUCK THIS UP BIG M!!!!!
Twisted Pixel are awesome developers…I actually play The Gunstringer these days and like the predecessors: it’s great.
So don’t. Screw. It. Microsoft.

Hopefully, Microsoft with Twisted Pixel won’t follow the example of EA with Visceral: “Congrats, you guys have had nothing but financial and critical success lately! You’re closed.”

yeaaaah… i’d be less unambiguously enthusiastic than you, Lisa, if my favorite developer was bought by a corporate monstrosity like Microsoft, EA, etc. on the plus side, it may mean better funding and more options for them, on the minus side, Microsoft could start meddling in their business and screw up what makes them great.
time will tell. clearly THEY thought it was worth selling themselves to Microsoft. and hopefully they know best!

There goes all my hopes and dreams of ever sploding on a PS3 controller….but still CONGRATS TO TWISTED PIXEL!

I’m wary of any acquisition by a major company/publisher. Could Twisted Pixel gain the necessary funding for future projects that may well and truly be awesome? Indeed. Could Twisted Pixel also be forced to create exploitable franchises (i.e. Bungie = Halo, Lionhead = Fable etc)? Also likely.

Just thought of a possible scenario while at work. This aquisition was most likely made after Microsoft witnessed the success of The Gunstringer for the Kinect. More likely than not Microsoft will ‘guide’ Twisted Pixel into making more exclusive Kinect titles.
You’ve read it here first (maybe).

Lisa will probably bludgeon my brains out for saying this, but I haven’t actually played a Twisted Pixel game, yet.
