Darth Joe vs. SpoonyWan – Featuring Lisa Foiles

This was shot FOREVER AGO at E3 2010? I think? Yeah. I never thought it would see the light of day, but here it is! And it's pretty comical. You'll especially enjoy it if you are a Spoony fan or an Angry Joe fan. If not, you might be a little lost, but that's your own damn fault. Seriously. Get with the times.

So Sith Mistress Foiles?
November 7th, 2011 - 23:39
It’s always been that way. Why did you think we called her “Darth Chix0r” when we started?
November 7th, 2011 - 21:02
You know I’d probably play SWTOR if it had more Lisa Foiles. Great Video

This was indeed pretty funny. Way to defend yourself against those powers of force persuasion. I guess that means that you have a pretty powerful mind. Either that or it’s just more powerful than those guys, which doesn’t look too difficult.

Foolish, both of them, to think that Lisa would be swayed by such an amateur mind trick. Don’t they know those tricks only work on the feeble minded? I know no one stronger in all ways of the force, dark and light, then our own Lisa.

She seems pretty feeble minded to me.

That’s an ability to lull into a false sense of security. Then you realize all the mind tricks are being done to you and you’re falling for every one of them and finally you get a legion of force pushed scorpions thrown at you.

Shes not that clever….she wrote on me with sharpee. It would have been better if she threw Josh Server at me.
November 8th, 2011 - 03:49
Mind tricks don’t work on her, only money.
November 8th, 2011 - 09:42
For what they were attempting, I don’t believe money would work either. I know of nothing that would really work. Sorry y’all.

The lightsaber and force lighting effects were great and the unimpressed look on your face was hilarious.
November 8th, 2011 - 04:32
Is it wrong that I was far more interested in figuring out what camera was used instead of the actual sketch itself?
November 8th, 2011 - 09:43
For a “wow that came out well” inquiry or an “avoid that one” kind of inquiry?
November 8th, 2011 - 14:16
Definitely a ‘damn that came out surprisingly well’ inquiry. I don’t believe it was a Canon 5D or 7D but the quality was pretty decent. All it needed was a bit of lighting and a shotgun mic for cleaner audio.
Also, screw Save Point for linking me to Film Riot. You’ve spoiled my taste in internet video quality. :P

It’s definitely not that. I know Joe uses a traditional prosumer style video camera (think something like the Canon Vixia series), I think like Spoony both using a Flash/SD based storage system on the camera, and then has lots of experience in After Effects (specifically chromakeying) to color correct and stuff, but I don’t know make and model specifically. Seeing it was shot at E3 on the fly, it was one of those “make due with what you have” kind of skits for lighting.
And you’re welcome. :-D I take complete credit for that one. Ryan’s got a pretty sweet set-up with his Canon 5D and lighting rigs. A film school trained eye doesn’t hurt either.

While I’m not a big fan of the Angry Joe Show (he states consistently that he stands and fights against “corporate” yet he praises the very games “corporate” creates [Madden and CoD to name a few]) I won’t deny that he is great at chroma keying and his show is very well produced. Noah too is excellent at chromatic keying.
After watching almost every episode of Film Riot and watching what Joe, Noah and some of the crew at TGWTG, it almost makes me wish I studied film at uni to have a go myself. Then again, $3000AU (roughly) for a decent camera and another $4000 for both a decent dolly and shoulder mount. It almost doesn’t seem worth it.
