Stu’s Web Wednesday: Egoraptor
I was going to do this one when The Tester started. Then...other stuff happened. Like me not watching The Tester because anything remotely looking like reality television turns me away instantly, unless it's basically a horror movie version of Finders Keepers. But, with The Tester...yeah...probably best I didn't do this when it came out seeing how that went, apparently since they edited him look look horrible. Which is a shame really because Arin "Egoraptor" Hanson produces things far better, even occasionally informative, than the show he jokingly auditioned to be apart of.
Egoraptor's best known for his "Awesome" series, origionally on Newgrounds which migrated over to YouTube. The awesome series is a little...different...for example one for Lisa:
And my personal favorite, one for a Sonic game that no one really ever played. Thank you 32X.
Even outside of the Awesome series, there's some one shots that shows off exactly what happens with the gaming community too. Like exactly what pretty much everyone who played Saint's Row: The Third made for their character costume:
But it's not just the weirdness and quick hits, Egoraptor has a real smart and perceptive mind in game design, as shown in his series Sequelitis. It could be easy to just compare the original to a sub-par sequel, like say Castlevania Vs. Castlevania 2, but it can take some guts to compare Castlevania to Super Castlevania IV:
You can get to all things Egoraptor on his website. You know what, I'm a little peckish. I'm feeling like pound cake. I wonder where I can get some. Anyone with me?

My first few exposures to Egoraptor were in collabs with Legendary Frog in which Ego was largely portrayed (by himself as himself) AS a big ego. Fortunately, later, less-self-deprecating moments showed that initial impression to be untrue.

Egoraptor is one of my favorite e-celebrities out there. I can honestly say if he ever gets into game design, I wouldn’t mind working for him.
We all know the Tester is kinda bogus and has nothing to do with games. But hey, at least people get to know you. As in, people know there’s a person out there with your name that loves games. Could be a good experience. :/
