Nick’s Friday Round-Up

Hey there! For the 3 of you that read my round-up's, I'm sorry I wasn't able to post one last week, but I'm back with links galore! So let's hit the "Cray" button!

For those of you living under a rock, there was this one thing that happened with a dude skydiving from 24 miles up. For those who missed it, here's a recreation of the event with LEGO'S. [geekologie]

MOAR LEGOS, Ninja Turtle style! (not to be confused with gangnam style) [geekologie]

There was also a couple hardcore LEGO builders who built the Batcave. [howtogeek]

A flippin' amazeballs Batmobile concept car! [geekologie]

Time for food! More specifically, cookies. More specifically, things you can stuff inside cookies! []

One of my favorite things from this time of year is pumpkin. Pumpkin ANYTHING! Here are 19 of the best ways to eat pumpkin for breakfast. []

Tired of always burning the crap out of your mouth because you're too impatient to wait for your pizza to cool off before you take a bite? Well now, feel free to bite into your scalding hot pizza without fear. You can pop a "breath strip" that heals the burns from eating hot foods. [geekologie]

A real working Portal gun? Sadly, no. But a modded one that can levitate a companion cube exists! [howtogeek]

Let's all kick back, grab some popcorn, and watch 15 minutes of a documentary about the making of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. [gammasquad]

Here's something else you all need to watch. A marching band tribute to video games. IT HAS TETRIS! This is a "must watch". [geekologie]

World of Warcraft recreated in Minecraft in 1:1 scale [geekosystem]

A very well made Super Mario Bros. mod for Skyrim [geekologie]

Another hoodie to add to your geek collection. A Mario Bros. Tanooki hoodie. [geekosystem]

THE MOST AMAZING CAR CHASE YOU'VE EVER SEEN! Because it's shot using RC vehicles, and made to look like a scene from a movie. [geekosystem]

If you haven't played Dishonored yet, then you're seriously missing out. Maybe these 5 reasons you NEED to play Dishonored will get you throwing your money at this game. [gammasquad]

Now here's 5 things you'll learn about yourself while playing Dishonored. [cracked]

Nick’s Friday Round-Up

This goes out to all you hardcore gamers out there. You got an extra $300.00 laying around? Good. Then I present to you the Mad Catz S.T.R.I.K.E. 7 gaming keyboard. And here I thought my Razer Tarantula keyboard was pretty cool. [geekologie]

For those of you who are putting together a zombie themed room, or perhaps you just enjoy blood splatter, or maybe you're just a regular ol' homicidal maniac, and want to camouflage the real blood. Either way, you'll love this beautiful blood stain wallpaper. It's sure to match your drapes. [geekologie]

Once you get that gaming keyboard, why not drop another $300.00 on a brand new, top-of-the-line video card. That way you can actually play Crysis 3 in all it's extremely beautiful splendor. [gammasquad]

Going to the opposite end of the spectrum. You all remember QWOP, right? Personally, I wasn't able to take 2 steps in that game. Well the creator of said game has created another one, called CLOP. You move a unicorn across the hillside to get to the fair maiden. At first, it seems much easier to play, but just wait until you get to the incline. [geekosystem]

What do you get when you mix up a pot of Animaniacs and throw in a good dash of Skrillex? You get sheer awesome, that's what. []

Here's a 7-foot LEGO replica of Firefly's Serenity ship. [geekologie]

Not cool enough for you? How about a life-size, functional Wall-E robot? [geekologie]

Here's something that might be of interest to Lisa. A stackable tetris desk lamp. [geekosystem]

Forget magnets, HOW THE CRAP DO MIRRORS WORK?!? And while we're at it, what color is a mirror anyway? Why are your eyes blue or green, or hazel? What color are their hands now? [howtogeek]

Anybody want a Batman toilet paper holder? [geekologie]

Here ya go. Have a few awesome facts about stuff you've seen at Toys R Us [mentalfloss]

What are the best multiplayer maps ever made? Let's find out, shall we? [dorkly]

I love the show, Grimm, and I was extremely excited when season 2 started this past Monday. Here are 11 secrets about Grimm season 2. WARNING: THAR BE SPOILERS AHEAD! [blastr]

Speaking of "spoilers", want to build your own little paper TARDIS? [howtogeek]

The 11th doctor has been around for a couple seasons now, and from the looks of it, he's going to be sticking around for a while longer. [blastr]

Nick’s Friday Round-Up: I Refuse to add a Title Edition…. REFUSE!

Ever sleep on that one bed that makes you feel like you're floating on air? Well now you can literally float on air, with a levitating bed. You can also forgo the comfort and softness for a stiff back and crick in the neck. [geekologie]

Ewoks are evil. "But, Nick, they're so cute and furry. Didn't you see the Ewok Adventure?" Yes, yes I did, which further proves my point. Need more proof? Take a look at these pictures. []

Speaking of evil Ewoks, Diablo III is the fastest selling PC game in history. [geekosystem]

In further Diablo III news, you may have heard of a secret level called Whimsyshire. A spoof of the new My Little Pony show. Want to know how to access it? Well here ya go. [geekosystem]

In the past we've seen some portal mashups with other video games. The latest mashup is Super Street Fighter II with a Portal gun. It's just a video, not a playable game, but it's still lulzy. [gammasquad]

There have been many iterations of Tetris in the past, but this one is the most trolliest version of it ever. Sadly, like the Street Fighter/Portal game, it's not a playable version. MAKE THESE GAMES PLAYABLE, PEOPLE. SRSLY! [geekosystem]

I know all of you have pondered what it would be like if Tetris was turned into a movie. Well ponder no more. Prepare yourself for action, drama, and suspense, in this fan-made Tetris movie trailer. []

Nintendo can do no wrong, amirite? Yes?... Anybody... Anybody at all... -_- Yeah, you're right. Here's the 5 biggest mistakes ever made by Nintendo. [dorkly]

We've all heard rumors of a possible Shadow of the Colossus movie. Well now those rumors have a bit of credence to them, with the announcement of a director. [geekosystem]

Usually around this time of year, we're all kicked back, watching new episodes of Doctor Who, and to those of you who have taken notice, there are no new episodes at the moment. Curious as to why your favorite time-traveling doctor is not entertaining you right now? Steve Moffat has your answer. [blastr]

How well do you know your video games? I'm talking tiny details in the games that the average gamer wouldn't give a second thought to? I think it's about time to up your video game trivia knowledge. [didyouknowgaming]

Most, if not all of us, have used Windows XP in the past, maybe even still. Unless of course you're a die-hard Apple person. I'll just leave that statement alone. For those of us who are familiar with XP, you know the iconic, default background image of the green hill with clouds above. Someone has taken it upon themselves to use Minecraft to recreate this image. inb4acreeperruinsit [geekosystem]

If there's one show's theme song EVERYBODY knows, it's the theme to Fresh Prince. Here's a clip of Will Smith on the Graham Norton Show, rapping the theme song with the audience. [viralviralvideos]

Boy Meets World was an awesome show that imparted all kinds of knowledge and wisdom, among other things. Here are 18 things that Boy Meets World has taught us. []

As time goes on, and technology gets better and faster; video games get more intense and involved. They have better graphics and even more immersive worlds, or do they? I think a lot of the newer video games can learn a lot from their older predecessors, such as Myst, one of the best video games from the 90s. Here are 5 things that modern games could learn from Myst. [gammasquad]

Nick’s Friday Round-Up: I’ve Spent Way Too Much Time Trying to Think of a Title Edition

Whenever I can, I like to start off my posts with food. Why? Because... food... What other reason do you need? So you know how awesome it is when you make that perfect pancake. And by "perfect pancake" I mean when you flip it over and it doesn't break. Well allow this guy to completely show you up. Enjoy some amazing pancake art. [geekologie]

It's Friday. Friday. Gotta post a sequel on Friday. Do you see where I'm going with this? *insert trollface* The "Poor man's Usher" has released an official sequel to the song "Friday". If you were looking forward to some Rebecca Black, I'm sorry to disappoint. It's just fake Usher. BUT... it's actually a pretty funny video. [geekosystem]

Unless you're one of the 7 people in the world who've been on a journey to deliver some kind of ring to a volcano, just so you can melt it down for scrap, then you know the Avenger's movie came out last week. If you've seen the movie, then you know that, *MINI-SPOILER* the city gets smashed up pretty bad. *END MINI-SPOILER* Of course you're thinking to yourself, "What if you were to calculate the damages and put them into an actual monetary value? What would it cost to repair everything?" Well wonder no more. [blastr]

For those of you who follow Lisa on twitter, then you know she steals potential content for my Round-Ups and links them to her followers. I'm pretty sure she does it just to spite me, but ya know what. I DON'T CARE. I'm gonna link it anyway. HAH! IN YOUR FACE LISA FOILES! Now everybody go watch this video of a guy playing the Tetris theme on a laser harp. Yes... a laser harp. [geekologie]

Everybody at one time in their life has watched Star Wars and thought to themselves how they would just love to be frozen in carbonite. Well your dream has come true! For the low low cost of $100 and a trip to a Disney theme park, you can make this dream a reality. Sort-of... []

QUICK, name 2 things that we all love, and can't believe haven't been combined yet! If you guessed Cheez Whiz and socks.... something is clearly wrong with you. If you guess R2-D2 and coffee... DING DING DING, YOU WIN! [geekologie]

(True story. I bought two laundry baskets. One for clean clothes. One for dirty clothes.)

Computer case modding has been a thing for quite a while. Screw you, iPad! I've seen some insane case mods, but once in a great while you run across one that completely wins the internet. This one has done that such thing. An AT-AT case mod, for your viewing pleasure. [geekosystem]

We have SO MANY videogames these days with so many genres. Some of them are amazing, while most of them are forgotten about. Even the great games could be made even better with a few tweaks. Here are 6 of the greatest video games we'll never get to play. Or maybe we could... Kickstarter anyone? [cracked]

Those crazy people down at Ubisoft have finally released an actual gameplay trailer for Assassin's Creed 3. I'm totally feeling this. Seriously... a bear. You get to fight a bear. If they're anything like the bears in Skyrim, then this is some SRS BSNS! [joystiq]

Speaking of Skyrim... I haven't talked about that in quite a while. Remember back in the day when I posted about that every week? Ah, yes... those were the days. Ok, so how about this. An Alduin dragon Skyrim cake. Legit baking skills are legit. [geekologie]

Speaking of Skyrim... Guess what's being developed into an MMO? The Elder Scrolls! It's been a long time coming, but we finally have a sneak peak. The Elder Scrolls Online teaser. [youtube]

You know when you get that urge to play Wolfenstein 3D, and you have to break out the 3 1/2" Floppy disks? Well, you can throw those disks away! Wait... you already have? What do you mean "what's a 3 1/2" Floppy disk?" You know what... screw you guys. Go play the game in your browser for free. [geekosystem]

This right here is something that NEEDS to be mass produced. A homemade RC Transformer. Not only is it RC'd as a vehicle, but it transforms, and can be completely controlled in it's robot form. It transforms without help, and doesn't fall over. TAKE MY MONEY NOW! [geekologie]

To finish it off, here's a guy who legally changed his name to Tyrannosaurus Rex. [geekosystem]

Nick’s Friday Round-Up: We’re Using Creepy, Alien-Girl Technology Edition

You know at one point or another in your life, you've come across a Highlights magazine; whether in a waiting room, or you actually had a subscription to the magazine as a child. You would think this magazine is all fun and games and learning, but there are actually 5 depressing lessons that this magazine inadvertently taught us. [cracked]

We ALL have to use the restroom during the day, despite what popular internet opinion about girls would have you believe. In some cases some of us may have eaten a bit too much cheese and things just aren't working out too well for us. Well why not use a restroom with a glass bottom, built at the top of a 15 story abandoned elevator shaft. Problem solved! That'll scare the crap right out of you. [geekosystem]

Have you ever gone to the store and bought your favorite two brands of chips and cereal (not to be eaten at the same time) and not even given a second thought that they both might be made by the same parent company. Well for those of you who do think about such things, here's a pictograph of 10 parent companies and the products they make. PREPARE TO BE AMAZED!! [geekologie]

I can totally appreciate a good Photoshopped picture. I mean, look at this masterpiece that Lisa created. What's even more impressive is finding pictures that look like they've been Photoshopped but actually aren't. Here are 18 images you won't believe aren't Photoshopped. [cracked]

For all of you out there who aspire to look like, what seems to be,  the perfect "Barbie" look. DON'T! It's creepy. I mean, uber creepy. Like, aliens attacking in the form of giant plastic freak-dolls creepy. You want proof? Ok then. A Ukrainian girl finally finished her life-long dream of looking exactly like a Barbie doll, using all kinds of plastic surgeries and stuff. It's WAAAAY creepier than you picture in your head. [geekologie]

Tired of playing that awesome game of Tetris on  your tiny, spinach-colored Game Boy screen? Oh... it's on modern gaming systems now? Hmm... Ok. Tired of playing that awesome game of Tetris on your tiny 58" plasma TV? Why not play it on the side of a, what looks to be, 20 story building. [geekosystem]

As gamers, one of the best things you can acquire, while playing your favorite game, is a means to get around the game more quickly. Here are the 10 greatest modes of transportation in videogame history. [dorkly]

Technology has been developing super fast over the last few decades. So-much-so that it's mind-blowing. It's said that by 2014, mobile graphics (i.e. ipad, ipod, etc...)  will be better than the current XBOX 360 graphics card. I remember a few years ago when my "top of the line" PC video card took up 2 PCI slots. [geekosystem]

If you're one of those people who are too lazy to play one of the best video game series over the past few years, but you would still like to know the story it's telling, then you're in luck. A fellow by the Youtube name morphinapg has pieced together all three Uncharted games into movies. Now you can appreciate the Uncharted trilogy without all that pesky playing of the game that's usually involved. [geekosystem]

What would Super Mario Bros. be like if each level was boiled down into a single screen. Well stop wondering, and find out for yourself, because that's exactly what happened for one of the entries in the 23rd Ludum Dare 48 hour game development challenge. Go play "A Super Mario Summary". It's actually a bit more challenging to beat than you would think. [howtogeek]

Last week you got to see the new CryEngine. Now you get a teaser trailer for Crysis 3. Seriously though, my video card would explode if I tried playing this. [geekologie]

The fate of Fringe has FINALLY been decided. FOX has made their decision on whether to keep the show or give it the axe. [blastr]
